The intent of the symposium is to table the message that as the complexity of delivering the intended functionality of a device increases, so does the number of individuals or entities engaged in the delivery of the device vying to find a direct or indirect expression on the user interface of the device with all good intentions, of course. Over time however, one at a time, inadvertently loose touch with the user for whom the user interface is intended for until there comes a day where the user interface serves the designer/ manufacturer/marketeer/maintainer more than the intended user. Consequences lead to continuous slide down to mediocracy - an unacceptable proposition in 2021 given the advancements in technology and access to investment.

President Biden in the press conference following the conclusion of the summit with President Putin in Geneva on 16 JUNE 2021 on strategic stability amongst other things.

Last April I made the decision to leave the peak-body organisation I had started falling for, following the effort it took to sifting through deep fake for objective evidence while working on digital platforms with no human contact to help us recalibrate misrepresentation. Precisely, the topic of the symposium I had planned for today as an initiative of my little business lzerobzero.

Given I didn't have any registrants its only my own thinking on the subject that is making it to its outcome. It thus, gives me great pleasure to share it on an online platform prone to atleast some of the vulnerabilities potentially enabling deep-fake to infuse through. For one thing, if any socialising platform has any hope of correcting such vulnerabiliites, it has to be a social platform intended for professionals such as Linkedin; additionally, my interest being resolution of such vulnerabilities impacting human-communication, commenting from the sideline would at best serve academic interests and is of no use to me.

Upon review of the myriad ways the adjective deep has been adopted by tech, I use the follwoing definition for the purposes of this article: deep-fake refers to the output of truthful information manipulated through one or more functionalities offered by software applications using, though not limited to, algorithms intended to mimic human faculties by producing outcomes on the basis of logics accrued through processing (people call it learning, but to me learning is a human thing) large amounts of data over a large number of iterations. The output is fake. The developement and deployment of such algorithms are intended to misrepresent truth.

In the absence of direct interaction with familiar humans its impossible to sift through deepfake to isolate truthful information. The nature of software is such if a given vulnerability can infuse deepfake into the application or its outcomes, then by definition, the solution, if it incorporates software, can not be claimed to be immune to equivalent vulnerabilities. In my assessment, the effort is practically doubled if such a vulnerability is exploited and puts the affected people on a backfoot, because they will be less vigilant misthinking that the vulnerability has beed addressed, when its not. 

So my message is simple: 

- when in doubt, allow benefit of doubt to the humans involved; almost always, damage to humans can never be fully compensated; besides, going after humans will cavitate the systems deeper and explode on you, probably when you are least expecting it.

- if you have the bandwidth, verify by directly asking humans for clarification; think through for yourself to make sure it makes sense

- if you do not have the bandwidth to verify, reject the information as unresolved

- if you are in a position of power, keep your critical systems away from solutions that are vulnerable for infusion of deepfake

- if you have already committed to such systems, find the effort to review it noting monitoring is not a solution when it comes to protecting humans; monitoring is at best, an adjunct to a solution

13 AUG 2021 lest science becomes a religion

Science to me is a subject that studies the inherent nature of one or more aspects of one or more perceivable entities with objectivity. Thus, Science has universal application on the merit of the subject irrespective of, for example, the nationality or lineage of the person engaged in the study nor the person who is the recipient of the outcome of the study. Science thrives when challenged.


Religion on the other hand is either passed on owing to the person's lineage or acquired on the basis of the environment in which a person's lineage is influenced by one or more people who had inherited their religion. Objectivity in the adoption/practice of religion, while the ultimate accomplishment, is hardly expected as norm. Religion evolves when challenged, but its an equal personal choice to evolve oneself around accepted faith, unchallenged.

Take for example, the principles of Risk Management that has been the accepted norm world over as a mechanism for determining the adequacy for intended purposes of therapeutic solutions. I have worked with humans all my life; very many of them. I am familiar with many medical devices, the extent of familiarity dependent on the context in which I worked. There are inherent inadequacies in the application of risk management associated with our ability to set the right risk threshold; if too high, it can hide cavitation/underlying issues requiring corrections; if too low, waste precious resources in pushing paper without adding any real value to the product or patient. If the solution incorporates brand new technologies its near impossible to get the right threshold prior to release. These can lead to,

- potentially incorrect attribution of one or more symptoms to an ailment where the rootcause of the symptom lies elsewhere

- potential for such manifestations to corrupt the data feeding the research aimed at strengthening the benefit of solution under consideration by delaying or defeating the intent of the research

- unquantifiable social and economic impact of such misatrribution with little chance of correction even in situatons that do not cross into pandemic proportions.

To me the time is ripe to challenge the adequacy of the Risk managemnt practices of 30 and odd years as a mechanism for assurance of product intent in a globalised, incresingly unmanageble world, lest it becomes a religion.

Trust and Truth are two facets of the same fundamental human attribute, viz., an individual’s ability to live employing one or more of their faculties at a given moment in a given environment. Both trust and truth are limited by an individual’s realisation of the reliability of the space in which he or she treads based on their understanding of the space. They can not be quantified in universal terms, let alone represented by algorithms for universal applicability.

Take for example, my mother. In my view, she nurtured and evolved the genetic material in every cell of her body since her birth 88 years ago until she conceived me 60 years ago. The genetic material she bestowed on me includes the skills and abilities she acquired through her own learnings from her intellectual activities using faculties she herself was born with, thus enabling the genetic material to find expressions through the development of my own faculties. Its my insight that such faculties include:

- her/my voice (ability to speak/sing shaped by ability to respond my hearing)

- her/my sight (ability to see and express what is seen or seem to the seen)

- her/my touch (ability to feel and be felt)

- her/my taste (ability to discern to absorb/ingest or repel)

- her/my sense of smell (ability to discern to inhale/exhale) and integrated by breath as life.

To me she, but continued to evolve her genetic makeup and faculties well after my birth. She facilitated my learning, as I evolved the genetic material in every cell of my body, acquiring skills and abilities from my  intellectual activities using faculties I was born with. Its like a continuum of her evolution, influencing my own evolution.

The most she is capable of is the understanding of truth in sync with her own evolution to the given moment. To trust anything else, she'll have to learn/grow/evolve some more. She doesn't stop being a human worthy of equal respect irrespective of the extent of her personal  learning/growth/evolution. Everything else, for all practical purposes, is not worthy of her trust, and probably rightly so, lest its probable that she wouldn't be finding full expression of her self-respect. And to me, show of respect of thing she doesn't trust yet, is her conscience engagement in activities to learn/grow/evolve so that she can assimilate what she-didn't trust into her fold of truth so that she can now trust it. Trust and Truth are fundamental to human experince; they can be nourished in an open environment.

COVID bothers me. Not because it is presented as a public health risk, if unmanaged would be uncontrollable but because it is presented a public health risk, if unmanaged would be uncontrollable.

I am grateful for your monogram, An insider's plague year [Doherty, P., 2021], grateful for the clarity and transparency extended in the material discussed, in particular the unresolved aspects of the crisis that is costing millions of livelihoods world over with no sign of respite as exemplified by any number of publications including the recent report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. [Brown, C. M et al., 2021]

I have worked with humans all my life; very many of them. Encouraged by your attitude to objectivity that your narative could not conceal, that the usefulness of the information is in the scientific merit of the content and not the designation/affiliation of the person providing it, I am writing to share specific insights, my truth, with respect to consequences to humans resulting from the inadequacies of risk management based on laboratory based approches, even in situatons that do not cross into pandemic proportions. I am compelled to do so because:

- such inherent process inadequacies can manifest as incorrect attribution of one or more symptoms to COVID-19-?variant infection where the root-causes lie elsewhere or vice versa

- the potential for such manifestations to corrupt the data feeding research aimed at bringing the discease or condition undercontrol, delaying or defeating the intent of the measures

- the social and economic impact of such misatrribution can not be quantified, let alone be corrected.

For example, take mRNA as a platform for new therapeutic solutions at the back of COVID-upto delta varient. I allude to an article published in the latest issue of nature, The tangled history of mRNA vaccines [ Nature 597, 318-324 (2021)] that describes the mRNA vaccine as "chemically modified to replace the uridine neucleotide with pseudouridine... to stop the immune system reacting to the introduced mRNA". (not pretending to understand what it is, to me its a name to reference a modification to the topology of an existing natural topology of the mRNA,) I am not sure what approches exist to ensure the absence of uridine in mRNA or its ability to respond to intrutions vital for the correct functioning of the immune system at varying stages of life across varying populations or environmental conditions. In my mind its difficult to rule out the posssibility that the potential supression of the immune system of one or more people at some population may not have adverse consequences that may not be actually attributed to the vaccine, particularly in the formative years. In other words, given the scales in which nano medicines are designed and manufactured and the technological platforms influencing the design, its difficult to comprehend how such platforms are equivalent/viable alternative to pharmaceutical solutions that do not incorporate man synthetic genetics.

As you can appreciate, Science thrives only when challenged; religion while evolves when challenged, allows for an equal personal choice to evolve oneself around accepted faith, unchallenged. I am afraid, lest we are careful, COVID is threatening to push science into the realms of religion, an irrecoverable public risk to not only Australians but all humanity. And I am sincerely grateful that people like yourself are amongst those who are trying to restore reason by informing the governments and the public alike on "...evidence-based activity, including scientific research..."  with an opportunity to proclaim the end of the beginning, enabling unhindered flourishing of all things human, for every human.

A symposium intended for participants aspiring to be in roles responsible for significant budgets. 

Scope of the Symposium

Facts and Truth are two different things. Truth is more like a Gestalt of facts: i.e., Truth is more than the sum of facts.

The symposium is set to explore the distictions between facts and truth, explain contexts where facts can be meaningful on their own, and contexts where facts are pretty much useless.

Truth, for all practical purposes, is a holistic understanding of an inanimate object/entity or living species-including human by a human. You can derive several facts from the truth depending on the situation requiring its application or validate data points requiring validation- vice versa is not true in all but trivial cases.

Let's try with an example - it works better if you get some one to read it out to you, I have capitalised all characters to somewhat enhance its effectiveness. Here's a bunch of facts about P N G.

  1. P N G was created in 1837

  2. P N G produced and sponsored the first radio several dramas in the 1930

  3. P N G's operating income in 2021 was 18.79 billion US

If you are an Australian, knowing your neighbour, by the time you get to 2., you would know the N is not what it seems, and work your way to deciphering, its & morphed into and, 'n and N that its Procter and Gamble we are talking about. In the absence of any understanding you may lap them up as facts and happily impress your dinner gusts with your new found knowledge! On a serious note, take the example of OAS's altruistic efforts to uphold the rights of one of its member states delivered the diametrically opposite outcome, due to a undetected programming logic error in the tools used which ordered the time stamps on the tally sheets alphabetically rather than chronologically.

And in a globalised multi cultural, technologically normalised world situations individuals have to deal with are anything but trivial. Even with the best of intensions and unlimited resources, unintended cavitaions can skew truth completely out of shape that facts are almost of no use until those who realise the truth despite available facts present a seemingly opposite truth, pursue their efforts to establish the truth.

Take for example a typical occurrence:  an ailment you observe while you are focused on an activity in parts of your body that you do not consciously engage in proceeding with the task on hand to completion, or your current commitment to yourself. The task, let us say culminates in the completion of a digital asset- a pdf document that you send to your functional manager via an email.  You make a note of the ailment when you observed it to follow-up when you completed the task on hand. The ailment did not persist at the completion of the task. You did not pursue it any further.

Let us take stock of facts and truth from the perspective of a) the two humans, b) two stationary- one digital and the other paper based,  c) the digital infrastructure and associated product for creating the digital asset, and d) the digital infrastructure and associated product for transferring a copy of the digital asset. For the purposes of illustration, let us also take the perspective of e) three other humans, viz., your people-manager, another fellow employee irrespective of location role or rank and a friend from social circle and f) two other entities, your telecommunication infrastructure service provider and finally your telecommunication infrastructure service provider's supplier.

    Assume the document you were preparing is of significant business importance; further assume the document you sent and the one your manager received were not quite the same with error sprinkled in exploiting a vulnerability in the infrastructure. You'll find your facts and truth will be the only ones that would remain unaltered :)! .

18 FEB 2022 White lies and Truth

To me while facts are data points enabling the understanding or validation of truth, white lies are a temporary representation of truth enabling the recipient of the information to develop the necessary skills to understand the truth as it is with out the bolstering that comes with white lies.

Its a somewhat useful child rearing tool - I remember the time when my two year old gunned for the bottle of coke I intervened in my infinitesimal wisdom as a learning mother, gave her diluted coffee calling it coke, enough to keep her away from coke until a couple of years later I could explain to her in a way she could understand; a quick learner she was trying her own version of it on her little brother develop a taste for cheese by handing him a cheese stick with , "look its lolly".

In professional spheres it probably started as an upward management tool by managers to keep senior management/marketing in bay to give their subordinates little more time to complete that design or test. Or while engaging in estimations and budgeting before risk management became fashionable giving it a valid vocabulary in the name of mitigation. Or releasing software as fit for purpose with a readme list of bugs, the engineer though shouldn't impact user if used as intended. All of which have played out their useful life probably ten years ago and I think are no longer acceptable in the current connected, globalised work-place where workplace is a place where your keyboard sits.

Lies have no place in a mature workplace, irrespective of what adjective they bear. Join me to shape workplace cultures fit for 2022, sustainable for another sixty years.

It is always difficult to determine how much data you need to substantiate the truth accurately. I call it the regulator’s conundrum. Its counter intuitive, but the data required to demonstrate intent is very little. To arrive at what that very little you need ample knowledge acquired by sufficient experience;  some spend a life time gaining such experience applicable to their domain.

The symposium explores the concepts of truth and accuracy of truth and instigates thinking towards eliciting intent form expressions or statements.

Truthful and Accurate

There are very many descriptions on vouching material presented/communication as truthful and accurate. Most of them boil down to a) is it truthful? b) have you left out any other information that may potentially change the take home for your recipient had you included it?

Its counter intuitive, but the material/gesture/words required to express intent is very little. It's almost a fine art to delineate what that very little is from a swath of material/gestures/words available to us. Bear in mind, big data introduces its own vulnerabilities normalising expectations on achievable accuracy. There are huge benefits to developing the skills to effortlessly apply such distinction in everything we do. I call it becoming "deliciously lethargic"* to accomplish more. And we can build the skill in our spare time, with almost anything that we can find around us. Ofcourse we have to commit to be objective (ie., unbiased and honest with ourselves).

Let me illustrate with the pile of books I picked up from the side-board this morning for putting away in the shelves- an assortment of books unconnected other than the fact that they are mine and they are books. I am going to review their title, leaving out image as I can not communicate that to you, and if they tick the truthful and accurate check-box in communicating the intended msg of its content. Mind you its just a fun exercise, with the intent to instigate thinking about intent something that is not always explicit, acknowledging book covers come in all shapes and the purpose of the exercise is not to judge the cover, let alone the book:

Its not. It is multi layered, not all of which may be visible at any given point in time, but I wouldn't call it relative.

Depending on one's familiarity with the context of the situation being assessed for truthfulness, one or more layers may be pealed off deepening the understanding of the situation deflating the perception of relativeness gradually until the whole truth will become undeniable.

The symposium explores how to identify the different dimensions of truth and how to know that you have unpacked sufficient layers to ensue your understanding of the truth is adequate for your purpose.

13 MAY 2022 Truth is hard work

If you are striving to deliver sustainable outcome for all those you lead, truth is the only weapon you need; as long as you brace your self for some serious hardwork amidst relentless interference, you can be rest assured that you’ll be able to over come anything that’s thrown at you with out loosing your head.

The only pit fall you need to aware of is that human brains have an inherent design flaw that would lead you to believe that your hardwork is also your reward - NO. you have to find time to recognise that outcome from hardwork is different to hardwork, lest others would.

The first time some one called me smart in Australia was my husband. A newly wed, wearing the saree he picked for me for the first time, I didn't have to anywhere near smart to have been seen smart in his eyes.

I have been called so many times since by many people over the years and I have never paid much attention to it, primarily because I didn't fully understand what it meant  and particularly because, I would have worked ever so hard through complex human-responsiveness as well as technical problems to have achieved the outcome that was being ascribed to as me being smart!

The symposium explores the notion of smart and its relevance to truth.

The symposium lays the founding stones for a new era correcting the misunderstandings of the past; it may be hard work, but knowing where we have landed JUNE 2022, thats is perhaps the only smart thing to do!

16 SEP 2022 Can there be  life after work?

Note, for the purposes of this symposium, Work, as an activity an individual engages in, employing one or more of their capabilities in exchange for remuneration, where the engagement in all its facets are affiliated to the remunerator, is different from life, all other engagements of the individual in this wide world with ~7-10  billion humans.

The geo-techno-political climate in AUG 2022, as manifest in practically every location where humans exist has rendered the distinction between work and life into some sort of an amorphous blurr that is neither useful to work nor life. It doesn’t have to be. Infact, more than anytime than now, we can not afford to clarify the distinction for each one of the ~7-10  billion humans.

The symposium was intended to lay the founding stones for a new era in education:

- to instil what is life from kindergarten and re iterate it all the way until individual joins the workforce

- to educate employers big/small, governmental/or non governmental, intended for profit/non-profit on their line of engagement

- to identify regulatory frameworks that would effectively correct consequences of the playing the amorphous blur intensionally/unintentionally and assure the line is understood and respected for the betterment of the ~7-10  billion humans the planet can happily support.

Currently it depends on the maturity of the organisational entity whose payroll constituted a line item for your remuneration. Unfortunately, we live in times where are no employment laws that can protect you from interference, malicious in intent at least in some layers before it percolates through your skin and leave irrecoverable damage.

Its my insight that sincere workers, working to the best of their ability at all times, to do the right thing within the scope of their role are not immune to such interference and often times incapable of seeking legal protection- because, there are fine cracks in our legal systems that debilitates some one from holding a perpetrating entity of malice to account when misrepresentation is wielded through other entities or social frameworks unrelated to work places.

The social media such as Facebook, whatsapp, and media originally intended for social communication of professional collegues or ex-collegues such as linkedin, with their cyber vulnerabilities, operating in an environment where many are looking to make a buck on other people's hard work across the globe, amplifies the vulnerability of unsuspecting victims. The limitation of human brain to comprehend the extent of proliferation of such vulnerabilities is ever increasing as institutions which offered protection to humans are loosing the little touch they had to truth as outsourcing and megasourcing through autonomous data collection systems with their own cavitations paint engaging misinterpretations.
So do I think there can be life after work - not if we do not strengthen the individuals and judicial institutions intended to protect the individuals by suitable legislations to limit the scope of employer's reach to their own front gates, and certainly not that of the employee's directly or via the myriad of telecommunication facilities abounding our space today.

30 SEP 2022 Can you find life in work?

Ofcourse you can, most of us do, and you should, most of us do. But unsurprisingly its hard work.

How many of us have go back to our job spec every time we are assigned a new task to check if the skills you signed up are all you need to get through your assignment? Probably none. Not even if you are joining a sandwich shop to slip cheese and tomato in between two slices of bread to cut the perfect fresh sandwich  to seep life into your customer whose neural faculties are going to be eternally gratefully to you for the விநயம் you brought to fore in serving it - even if your customer doesn't realise it themselves. Because, you may not have taken the "keying in the" order into your device into account.

Work is complex and roles humans fill are anything but defined in 2022 irrespective of the layer of the organisation your role fills. in me experience, it takes about a year (a full business cycle) for you to understand what your role is, and another to understand the role of all those you work with before you can play role to fullest seamlessly enabling others to fulfil their roles to the fullest.

This is assuming your organisation is not intending to change its IT systems/support structures in the two years, let alone realisation of external the vulnerabilities such as virus warnings/precautionary action in an environment where the understanding of the viruses is almost always behind the evolution of the virus it self. It takes another six months to an year to validate your own understanding of the role is actually contributing to the bottomline in green. When you recognise that your colleagues, one or more of employees of your suppliers, your family('cos, at times you can't get back home in time) - god forbid, the customers of your business, are giving up a bit of their unremunerated work (or life) in polishing up your role, you will develop the necessary விநயம் to find life in work. The more you develop, your appreciation for every role will grow and so will the bottomline of your business. A young girl from India - I don't know her name or face nor her paymaster- instituted her விநயம் through a work instruction called sarika to get her team mates to seamlessly cover for her on occasions she was delayed to work on account of getting her make up right. Her team leader, in appreciation of her leadership in customer care included it in  to their work procedures.

In a society succumbing to machine learning algorithms that feed on individual neural spikes with a level of binary surety at the rate of some million or so yes-this-is-learnt decisions, pervading our very skin and tissues to deny our own ability to so much as see, hear, eat or sleep- let alone speak, its not easy for humans to find work in work after finding life enabling our tools to learn. The choice is ours, each one of us. We can choose to find in life in work for another human or machine. If you are like me, making a stand to stick with humans, my friends, let me warn you its bloody hard work - at times literally!

Some outlandish ideas are on the card

Physics to me is a human understanding of the fundamental, indisputable truth about everything that makes up everything that is universe to every one of us, is all pervading. I don’t know about God Almighty, but to me Physics is all pervading. It perennially gives. It never fails you. Not that I would have minded, but you don’t have to pray to it nor pay for it. To me you can derive literally anything from Physics based on my understanding of physics based on what I call Principle of Dispersion. I can derive the whole cosmos and everything in it using the Principle of - timeless, gravityless,  quantumless - perennial dispersion.

In this symposium I want to explore how you can derive a consistent understanding of life from my Principle of Dispersion.
