Waking up to my weekends

overload +1

Saturday 30NOV2024

It was in 1995. My husband and a couple of his friends, with the memories of their successful months long ticket-drive (literally so by the wife of one of his friend) to stage the banner of their new-found hobby-horse, Pallavi, a partner ship to enable listening to live classical carnatic concerts in Sydney with   others who yearned for that genre of entertainment, released the tickets of their forth coming concert by Sri Lalgudi Jayaraman, to the accompaniments of Sri G J R Krishnan, Srimathi Vijayalakshmi and Sri Karaikudi Mani. In all of some indistinct hours with in a day, they had to close the box office, for every ticket was sold out. A spurious one-off occurrence in the history of Pallavi with every other resembling their first taste at ticket-drive, adequately augmented by all of their hobby budget most times. Pallavi changed its organisational structure a few years down the line and incorporated the entity, with a constitution that formalised their intent and operations thus far for the assurance of sustainability of its intent in the years to come: Pallavi, their little hobby horse; unpretentious in its intent, accurate in its accountings and truthful in its operations.

Organising for unpretentious, accurate and truthful delivery is, however, impossible without a validated implementation of policies, procedures and work-instructions interfacing in a cohesive multi-plexed regulatory framework fit for delivering communication solutions for humans in a social setting. The first step in developing any regulatory framework is to take stock of the existing operations/provisions and exclude consumer segments(contra indicate) who may suffer potential harm from potential communications, (eg. posts, feed) etc. that are potentially, pretentious, inaccurate, and untruthful.

Saturday, 23NOV2024

It was in 1986 that I visited new Zealand for the first time. The NZ television had two channels. The programs of one of the channels included half an hour of national news every day. If there wasn't anything to report, worthy of bothering our evenings, the program would wind-down the headline news for the rest of the week or drop off to covering farm subsidies or sports. If something went wrong, at most you'd have to wait till the evening news to confirm, as did everyone else, and you'd know to take the next flight back home. Unpretentious, but accurate and truthful.

For example, the fact that the fire-alarm that got all the guests of the multi-storey hotel we were staying in, down to the foyer in the middle of the night, nor the fact that we rolled over and slept, didn't make it to the evening news, even though there wan't anything more significant to report that night from Aukland. I can't, however, even begin to count the opportunity costs: there could have been a 24 hr news crew hanging in the lobbies picking up the first ring of the alarm and setting the twitter stream alight, to be followed by the involuntary retweets of the Sydney siders as they reluctantly cast off their phones to their bedsides, in turn triggering an explosion of retweets from Chennai and other IT hubs took a break at 4:30 pm, while their employees used twitter to keep their fingers moving lest they refuse to start again given, there’s another eight hours of unfinished work starring at them, before calling it a day, only to be dis-proportionately augmented by LA by half their lot who couldn't fall asleep and the other half starting their days with a break. By morning, the twitter trend would have demanded that national crew be brought to the lobby, and who knows, my self and my husband would even have a joined a special panel discussion advising on how to sleep through a fire alarm. Pretentious, inaccurate, but truthful.

"Labour Day in NSW is a public holiday celebrated on the first Monday in October. In 2023, Labour Day will be celebrated on Monday 2nd October. This annual public holiday celebrates the arrival of the eight-hour working day, a victory for workers in the 1850s"

- Google search returned by the search engine as the header along with 2,840,000,000 results in 0.38 seconds with my search criteria october long weekend with the intent to cross verify its the labour day long weekend.

Its Labour day long-weekend in Australia. I really need to unwind and do so as soon as I can and hence the brevity of this post.

Rivers are the life blood of life itself- not just human lives, they are also the life blood of lives of the birds and bees and animals and fish and plants and trees and bushes and insects, and worms and spiders and even cockroaches, also to a lesser extent than other living species.

If we restrict their flow in search of water or traces of water in space and other planets and even our own in the pretext of water management, the roaches will rule once again unchecked for another 200 and odd million years overseeing the next round of evolution.

I am writing a margam tracing the flow of two rivers: Kousi (or Kosi in other dialects) and Kaveri as I mount two droplets that rose from the Aaabic sea, both finding their way to merge as one in the Bay of bengal after flourishing my motherland along the way.

Let all rivers flow unhindered. Let humanity flurish. Let the planet live by letting all living species live. If that means, I have to download the movies I want to watch the previous night as a single file and not wick moisture for the convenience of live streaming, I'll do so- but I have to do some homework to validate the hypothesis.

கெத்து

I have been exploring the attribute "courage" systematically for some time now. I combed available Tamil and English literature; I combed history through wiki, biopics, theatre and discussions with friends and family well versed in the aspect of history I have been researching; I combed current leadership space, corporate, political, technical, religious and cultural through various adequately published media. I used fridge magnets to prop pictures to inspire me; I documented and baselined my understanding through my original poetry Kannagi enbathen peyare, seven poems as an adaptation of Kannagi, one of my favourite heroines from Silapadikaram, a timeless Tamil epic. In bringing it to theatre as a production, however taught me, you need newer dimensions and depths of courage in 2022 to so much as bring even self funded production to fruition in a well established, educated democracy such as Australia.

I think I have finally nailed it. Its what popular vocabulary puts down as கெத்து. Its not going around and beating up any one you can or paying some one to beat-up every one who thinks different to yourself. Its about knowing who you are, knowing what you want for yourself, and accomplishing what you want without compromising the interests of others in the space you work or socialise, staying true to yourself.

Its hard work; I am glad that's something I have ample experience in :)!! to கெத்து.

Chesbrough

My husband was amusing himself with ChatGPT or what ever it was called on what popped up on his phone on its attempts at literary criticism of Yudishtra, a Pandava prince renowned to portray objectivity/darma, one of the several characters in the 100, 000 verse long Sanskrit epic of Vyasar, the time of writing of the epic a topic of scholarly discussions in themselves, let alone the period Mahabaratha was set in.

I was introduced to Mahabaratha through stories and movies since my pre-school years, I have just about understood one of the characters, Droupathi, and written a set of poems*** adapting the Mahabaratha, failing to understand it though her eyes, because I couldn't place the practices of the period in which the epic was set; my adaptation includes changes  reflecting my own insights on  contemporary acceptability of certain norms. Its hard work, particularly because my knowledge of Sanskrit is minuscule to fully comprehend the intent of Vyasar.

I don't know how (artificial)intelligent ChatGPT is, I think its time Chesbrough wrote the next edition of Open Business Model, this time to impart insights on possible graceful-exit-clauses for Open Business models, if not now, atleast 12 months before chat GPT starts writing annual reports for multinationals.

Later,

அர்தாத்

Artificial Intelligence, at best can be as good as who are known in the Tamil(Tamil Nadu) colloquial circles as அர்தாத் (pronounced arthaath). Its impossible to write algorithms, a preparatory activity for learning, to make autonomous decisions on completion of learning aligning and validating intent, an activity where there is no strength in numbers; four hundred counts of misalignment, is still invalid, while a single count of alignment is valid.

Take for example a leaf form my experience a few minutes ago. Applying my recent knowledge of wet grinding as a mechanism to overcome the lack of the implements to prepare ஈர மாவு (eera maavu, delicately moist rice flour) while making a savoury delicacy for a social-worship my newly wedded son and daughter in law are performing tomorrow, I set out to develop my understanding of a sweet delicacy requiring ஈர மாவு that I have been trying to cane for years. (assume, a machine is "learning" reading my thoughts as I develop) I made the batter cross pollinating the method and set it out for fermenting yesterday. Finding it neither had the consistency nor colour which comes from the jaggery, I dry grounded fine rice flour and jaggery, and started folding it into the batter, feeling my way through the bowl. On detecting the batter was thicker an inch or so from the surface, I tipped back the spooned in dry  ingredients. (The algorithm, capable of detecting the reversal would likely invalidate the decision to add the estimated amount of dry ingredients/estimate of time for fermentation/ and hand control to other algorithms, with potentially malicious intent to stop me/claim my own development). I pushed through, wanting to get to my outcome, applying other arsenal to the fore, viz., the dry rice flour to swell, and refrigeration to wick away some moisture, folded back all the six spoons of dry mixture I had estimated would give me the result I was looking for!

Sumathy, notes on life as I live, 1 DEC 2022**

I hail from Tamilnadu, now a state in the Republic of India, a land evolved and defined by its language, Tamil. My mother tongue is Tamil even though Kousica maharishi, my forefather from some 5000 years ago was a native Sanskrit speaker. Millenniums prior to the formation of the Republic of India, published literature documents, it spanned from the venkata hills to the Kumari tips.

Sumathy, in waking up to my weekend, a  post on my linkedin page, 3 DEC 2023**

I drew my line on Friday upon sensing, for the n millionth time that I was being traced by men/mechines/women/tools/intentional-monitoring-ware/mallicious-siphoning-ware/defective-ware-with-unknown-cavitaions/defective-ware-that-the-designers-have-intentionally-left-uncorrcetd/one-of-another-half-a-dozen-such-I-can-think-of, unknown to myself. The problem is the way the technology (whatever it is) manifests as tracing renders it impossible to distinguish if the source is a men/mechines/women/tools/intentional-monitoring-ware/mallicious-siphoning-ware/defective-ware-with-unknown-cavitaions/defective-ware-that-the-designers-have-intentionally-left-uncorrcetd/one-of-another-half-a-dozen-such-I-can-think-of, unknown to myself.

I drew my line on Friday - that I have zero tolerance for ANY tracing, unless, the traced information is available to mysel at at the time of my call and use at my discretion.

All malicious tracing irrespective of extent of harm as percived by the tracer would constitute violation of my God given protections through evolution in the form of skin, skull, hair, nail and mother tongue, Tamil(**bramin dialect)  and liable for prosecution, at my  discretion.

Sincerely,

Sumathy

Shady Grove

"frying crisper in the shades of of the Shady Grove..."

- a little songlet I started writing in my thoughts to keep myself entertained

as I walked one hot sunny morning from the long-stay motel to the Shady Gove Adventist hospitals in Washington DC  hospital last August , realising the few branches that tried their best to shade the foot path were grossly inadequate for the task on hand.

I am hoarder... if our paths crossed chances are you found your way into my heart and my brain would have found enough room fo you to live happily ever after.

One such person was a young attendant at the inn that became our home for a few weeks while we waited for one of our beloved to recover in the hospitals in DC. Our conversation at  the self-serve breakfast area forged a bond that I cherished a little sachet of columbian coffee intended for drip filter found for my use after the session finished, as a above-and-beyond category customer service.

I opened and used it this morning, realising, I can infact enjoy the coffee and cherish the silver-look-alike plastic sachet not only until I pass but well beyond the planet passes and chances are it may float into the cosmos to some unsuspecting edge stabilised for trillions of years into triggering another explosion of evolution, outliving the neoCockroaches emanating into neoHumankind.

Saying no to anything artificial!!!

Sincerely,

Sumathy
